Obama To Award Michael Jordan With The Medal Of Freedom

President Obama may be on his way out of the Oval Office, but before he passes the keys over to Donald Trump, the reigning Commander in Chief is set to honour the GOAT with the country's highest civilian honour.

On November 22, the Presidential Medal of Freedom will be presented to 21 individuals who have "made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.” The list includes both Michael Jordan and fellow Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Other notable names on the list include Robert De Niro, Bruce Springsteen, Ellen DeGeneres and Tom Hanks.

'The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our nation’s highest civilian honor – it’s a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better. From scientists, philanthropists, and public servants to activists, athletes, and artists, these 21 individuals have helped push America forward, inspiring millions of people around the world along the way,' President Obama stated.

Those wishing to view the presentation of the awards can head on over to www.whitehouse.gov/live on November 22.
