Apart from creating compelling collaborations, pumping out high-end signature basketball shoes and crafting technologically-advanced running footwear, Nike have to make go-to casual shoes for the everyman – a customer who wants a cool pair of sneakers but doesn't want to drop big bucks or go through the headache of a SNKRS draw. The latest in the Swoosh's line of no-frills, low-cost daily drivers is a silhouette that's dubbed the Waffle Debut, a spiritual successor to styles like the Roshe Run and the Tanjun.

For a shoe that's priced at under $100 and doesn't attempt to be overtly 'cool', the Waffle Debut is surprisingly strong in the design department. Its nylon and suede upper are similar to the OG Waffle Trainer 2, which also means that they're ever-so-tangentially related to the high-hype sacai x Nike LDWaffle. Other key details include an exposed foam tongue plus an extended heel tab that rises out of the midfoot Swooshes and reaches about an inch behind the shoe's rear.

So far, five total colourways have been revealed: a men's black and white pair, a white and sail pair in men's and women's sizes, a men's all-black pair and women's pairs in tan and yellow/blue. They're cost-conscious as well, sliding in at a scant $70.

A release date for the Nike Waffle Debut has yet to be announced, but you can expect it to roll out over the course of 2022.
