Nike Sister Series 2009 Launch
Last month Sneaker Freaker was invited to witness the preview of the new Nike Sister Series for 2009, an innovative and technologically advanced collection of footwear that is set to have our Freakette’s foaming at the Pilates mat! Bringing back women’s sports footwear into a realm where the correct shoes are designed and built for their intended use, it’s no longer about bland retro, more about looking cutting edge while walking on a cloud of air, courtesy of the sweet Swoosh!
Taking place harbour-side at Sydney's Simmer Bay, we were greeted at the entrance by the booming bass that set the scene for a night to remember (if it wasn’t for the open bar and Mojitios!). After a short walk around the ritzy event space, Getaway’s Jules Lund took to the mic, albeit in a room heavily out-numbered by women to men. He started off proceedings with a brief introduction to Alex Ryan, Nike’s Account Executive who then took the reigns with an inspiring speech explaining the importance of Nike’s new Sister Series, which you can read about in our New Release section with the and the .
After giving a more in-depth view into Nike’s new DiamondFLX and Flywire technologies all the ladies in the room were anxious to get on the treadmill to try out the new range. And surprise surprise, we didn’t have to wait long, as promotional bags of free shoes and press kits were handed out after a killer performance from a crew of local Sydney dancers. The night ended on a high with all the Nike ladies letting off steam on the dance floor to ’ Dj K-Note and rubbing elbows with Olympic athletes, celebrities and media types. Those in heels jetted off as quickly as they arrived, proving if you rocked the comfort of the Swoosh, you were in for a big night. And what a night was had!
