Nike Set to Drop an Air Max BW for Beijing
Nike’s 30th anniversary celebration of the Air Max BW is set to continue with a new entry to the city-inspired colourways of Los Angeles, Lyon and Rotterdam. The new edition is set to hero China’s capital city of Beijing, with OG colour-blocking meeting premium materials.
Starting with a familiar base of black and white per the original colourway of the BW, the ‘Beijing’ adds a lush shade of chocolate brown to the tongue, Swoosh, ankle collar and midsole strip. These sections are rendered in thickly padded nylon per OG spec, but the rest of the upper is far from standard. The mesh is now a highly textured affair reminiscent of diamond plate steel, and the tumbled grain of the leather mudguard and eyestays can be seen a mile away. Clearly aware of the opulence, Nike have added gold touches on the dubrae and even the insole graphic is rendered gilt. As far as the Beijing connection goes, the city name replaces the Air Max text on the heel, plus Chinese characters are found on the left shoe’s tongue.
