Update December 15: Following the first set of images released onto social media from sneaker collector, , we have now been supplied with the next look at the reported upcoming release. Confirmation on the release is yet to be revealed.
There exists a higher echelon of sneaker collector that somehow manages to procure absolute unicorns well ahead of official release – and sometimes these shoes don’t drop at all. One such well-connected individual is @depeche23mode, who over the years has got his hands on some of the most insanely rare examples, mostly from the Nike and Jordan Brand wheelhouses. His latest unattainable acquisition is a previously unseen Nike SB Dunk Low sample that may be a future 420-themed pair.
Nicknamed ‘Blueberry’ by the owner, there are various markers that suggest these Dunks may indeed be sparking up in time for late April. Firstly, the plush tonal blue suede and buttery leather offers a serious level of tactile pleasure on par with previous 420 releases. Perhaps more tellingly, the aforementioned anthropomorphic blue raspberry motif on the underside of the tongue tag bears a particularly relaxed disposition. Furthermore, its leafy top appears to resemble another kind of flammable foliage…
While this Dunk is yet to drop, is offering this size 9 sample for the firm price of $4577. He also will refund 50 per cent of the asking price if the sneakers ‘release between now and 2022’. Which seems unlikely, given the potential timing for this ‘Blue Dream’ (Google that one).
