Nike Restore the OG Air Max BW ‘Marina’
More Nike Air Max BWs are coming this year after the revival of the original ‘Persian Violet’ in the form of the ‘Marina’. This lesser known OG was only revived for the first time back in 2016 for the 25th anniversary of the BW, and its tight allocation kept it largely under wraps for many sneakerheads. Given the widespread success of the ‘Persian’ retro this time around, and the improved design, it’s likely the ‘Marina’ will get its due props to a much larger scale.
If this year,’s ‘Persian’ retro is anything to go by, it’s to be expected that the ‘Marina’ will be a solid remake of the 1991 OG. Nike have made the effort to ensure a sharper toe bumper shape, more accurate materials of microfibre and mesh and, in accordance with its Big Window moniker, a noticeably larger visible Air unit in the heel. Furthermore, it’s likely the ‘Marina’ will be packed in a narrow grey stripe/orange lid Nike box, which was recreated for this year’s ‘Persian’ retro.
The last time the ‘Marina’ retroed in 2016, availability was somewhat scarce, with many global sneakerheads scrambling to find pairs Stateside and in Europe. However, five years on, the truly international status of the sneaker scene means hopefully this latest reissue will be more widely available. Stay tuned for release details once they are announced.
