Event Recap: Nike Makers Lab Preview
Today we experienced an abstract and crafty event that previewed the Makers Lab that will debut this Sunday at Battle Force in Melbourne. As part of the preview, we got to meet Team Fuel: consisting of talented Swoosh designers Gerald Sullivan, Shamees Aden and Reba Brammer. These trend-defining designers shared insights into some of their previous work, as well as their preferred design processes. Some of the work they spoke about included recent collaborations with ACRONYM, Tom Sachs, CDG, Craig Green and Off-White, to name just a few.
Following this insightful Q&A, a handful of us were each given a white-on-white classic and , before being encouraged to let the creative juices flow and construct our own custom build. We customised our AF-1 using the cut up EXP-14, laser printing guns, and whatever else we could get our hands on. Who knew cutting up shoes could be so fun? In the process, we discovered how leading design teams construct some of Nike’s most experimental kicks.
