While archive sneakers are always going to be popular, people will sometimes want something new and fresh. Nike are bringing out the best of both worlds with the Gamma Force, a new design that looks like it could’ve come out in the 1980s.
It’s difficult to pinpoint the exact references to other models with the Gamma Force, which certainly works in its favour as an original. However, elements like the leather upper, sparse perforations and thick rubber midsole look like they draw some inspiration from the Swoosh’s golden era. Who’s to say that the outsole toe bumper isn’t lifted from the Air Force 1, for example? As the shoe doesn’t have any Air tech or cushioning mechanisms, this could be a budget play from the brand. Or, it could even sit alongside the Dunk to help meet market demand.
These upcoming women’s colours are pretty straightforward, opting for a white base with simple accents of blue, cream or copper. Expect to see them hit Nike shelves later this year.
