Update March 10, 2023: After first surfacing last year, this Nike Dunk Mid is now set to release. They’ll become available directly via Nike on March 23. For more information, scroll down.

There’s a weird discourse on the sneaker internet around mid-cut sneakers. Most models in this configuration are met with disdain, particularly the Air Jordan 1 Mid, which is widely considered inferior to the High version. Now that Nike are set to release the Dunk Mid, will it fall victim to the same unfounded criticism?

The Swoosh have released so many low- and high-cut Dunks that they’re reissuing the same colours again. Some new variations in the form of the Mid version might refresh the bloated line, and it looks like the brand is going all-in on the colour and material options of this upcoming pair.

Despite losing a bit off its ankle and eyelet count, the overall silhouette is still largely familiar. It’s really just a Dunk High that missed its last growth spurt. What’s more noticeable is the multicoloured all-canvas upper and contrasting ecru panels. The quirkiest detail on this model is its heel tab, which is lifted straight from the Low. Time will tell how the Dunk Mid performs when it arrives at Nike retailers in coming months.

Until then, dip into a new pair of Dunks by visiting Nike’s webstore.
