Officially Confirmed! Nike Dunk Low ‘Jackie Robinson’
News on this release was first published on March 25, 2022.
Update April 6, 2022: We have confirmation that the Nike Dunk Low 'Jackie Robinson' is actually happening! Official imagery has touched down hinting a drop date is near.
The first African American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era, Jackie Robinson made his debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers on April 15, 1947. A culturally seismic moment for American sports, Nike are paying homage to the 75th anniversary this year with a special edition Dunk Low, the colourway expected to land next month.
Composed in Brooklyn Dodgers colour blocking, the Dunk Low comes with insoles quoting the iconic player: ‘I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me. All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.’ Elsewhere, the number 45 strikes the heels, while a special 25th anniversary motif emblazons the tongues. Baseball stitched laces enhance the theme, while quotes along the overlays (mirroring the insoles) completes the design. Finally, white midsoles are bordered with black outsoles.
No official release details have landed yet, but expect the Nike Dunk Low ‘Jackie Robinson’ to land on April 15. In the meantime, make sure to check out the latest Kentucky Wildcats rendition!
