Update August 12, 2022: Official images have surfaced of the Nike Air Max Scorpion 'Wolf Grey'! A drop should be arriving soon, we'll keep you updated.
Nike announced the Air Max Scorpion model at the end of 2021, but an official release is yet to happen. Ahead of that inevitability is another near-guaranteed occurrence, which is an early look, this time from @woganwodeyang. Unlike the tonal edition first revealed months ago, this greyscale version appears to draw on some iconic Swoosh inspiration.
This Scorpion namely resembles the classic Air Max 95 due to its ‘greydient’ upper and hints of neon. However, instead of layered microfibre like the 1995 model, the modern iteration sees stretchy uppers made entirely of Flyknit fabric, which also enables a seamless and smooth look. The knitted nature of the upper also allows different colours to be applied throughout different sections, thus creating that layered aesthetic made famous by the AM95.
Other overt allusions to the AM95 include the unmissable hits on neon yellow on the toe box Swoosh branding, plus the repeated striping along the oversized Swoosh. Furthermore, the full-length bulbous Air Max midsole is rendered matte black, just like the foam soles of its inspiration.
While this release is yet to be formally acknowledged by Nike, it’s very likely that this won’t be the only colourway of the Air Max Scorpion. Just like its midsole, the brand is going in big.
