Nike Will Celebrate Air Max Day with an Air Max 1 ‘City of Light’
Every year on March 26 sneakerheads around the globe celebrate Air Max Day by wearing their favourite Air-injected kicks! Usually Nike will create a big fuss, celebrating the tech that’s been in rotation for well over three decades. Although recently, Team Swoosh has been lacking when it comes to the hol-Air-day compared to previous years. Will they redeem themselves in 2022? We’ve already witnessed a brand new model dubbed the Air Max Motif and now @wideawakearthquake has shared a celebratory Air Max 1 ‘City of Lights’.
As well as celebrating Air Max Day in 2022 we’ll also be honouring the Air Max 1 because the iconic Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette turns 35 this year! Rather than bringing the OG back like they did in 2017, Team Swoosh are bringing out a fresh new colourway with similar details to the 2014 Air Max Day pair. The whole upper comes in classic white mesh and grey nubuck with added iridescent panelling. The name, outsole and insole text reading ‘La Ville-Lumière’ also suggests that it pays homage to Paris. Rounding it out is 3.26, the date of Air Max Day, scripted along the tongue and box and interestingly this pair will come with a commemorative Swoosh branded bracelet similar to that of the Patta x Nike Air Max 1.
Official word confirming the Nike Air Max 1 ‘City of Light’ is still yet to come through, but we’re sure you can expect these to drop on Air Max Day this month! We’ll keep you updated with a releases post and Where to Buy guide.
