The Nike Air Max 97 Is the Latest to Sport Japanese Sashiko
The past few years have seen a swathe of Sashiko sneakers, and most big-name brands have participated in the trend, especially Nike. Back in 2020, a Dunk Low surfaced with the Japanese stitching style, then later an Air Jordan 4, multiple Air Force 1s and now an Air Max 97!
Simply dubbed ‘Sashiko’, Nike have opted for a wild combination for this Air Max 97. The most eye-catching part is the deep-blue suede panel, which complements the subtle stitched denim panel underneath. Up top is ‘Silver Bullet’-esque colour-blocking, with reflective detailing and multi-coloured exposed stitching. Down below is a ‘Volt’ Air unit and contrasting gum outsole.
No release date has surfaced for this Nike Air Max 97, but we suspect they’ll arrive at your local Swoosh stockist or Nike’s webstore soon.
