Nike Air Max 97 Golf 'Wing It' Swings Through in an Alternate Navy
In a bit of an odd move, Nike Golf have prepped an alternate colourway of their Air Max 97 G ‘Wing It’, which originally appeared as part of a commemorative collection for the 2020 US Open held at Winged Foot Golf Club, NYC. That said, we can’t complain, because the remix it’s a bona fide banger!
The alternate version trades the whites and light blues for a USA-themed scheme. Dark navy dresses the upper, which is constructed out of a more golf-course-friendly synthetic canvas material instead of the traditional leather. Gold accents come by way of Talaria of Mercury (winged sandals prominent in Greek mythology) embroidery on the mudguard, which also work to carry the ‘Wing It’ and ‘Winged Foot’ themes. Additionally, red comes through on the side Swoosh logo, across the lacing, and on the lining.
For the sole unit, they’ve gone with the familiar jagged tread seen on previous AM97 G models. However, the overall look is elevated with an icy finish, which is sectioned off into blue and red portions.
The latest Nike Air Max 97 G ‘Wing It’ has already began appearing at select stockists, however, a wider release is still unknown. Seeing as they’ve already hit Nike Japan, they’ll probably be hitting Stateside stores in the coming weeks.
