This incoming in ‘Volt’ colouring easily could have released in the 2000s. It has plenty of markers from the era, including its material mix, shape, and, most importantly, its use of colour. Thankfully, this shoe is, in fact, not from the 2000s because it would be totally unwearable and is a 2023 creation.
It’s common commentary that the Air Max 1 was in its golden era as the world entered the new millennium. With plenty of inspiration 20-plus years on, it’s easy to see that the ‘Volt’ has taken a leaf out of its predecessors’ books. There’s a striking resemblance to the ‘Anniversary’ colour-blocking used on the OG editions, right down to the material combo, but with an obvious palette swap.
On the material front, the typical microfibre and mesh build is a welcome sight to see, though the thick nylon laces will likely be swapped out by many. Other OG-leaning details are reprised, such as the square tongue tag and tongue piping sewn along its perimeter. There ’s just enough tennis ball yellow ‘Volt’ to light up the upper without being too offensive to the eyeballs. Solid.
