Update May 31, 2023: Official photos arrive of the Nike Air Max 1 ‘Puerto Rico’ in the ‘Orange Frost’ colourway. Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for any updates on the ‘Blue Gale’ colourway as well as release information on the upcoming Air Max 1 collection.

Every year in New York, on the second Sunday in June, the National Puerto Rican Day Parade occurs in honour of the city’s ever-growing Puerto Rican community and its rich history in NYC. To commemorate the parade, Nike have made it a priority to annually release a sneaker that adorns Puerto Rican motifs. Team Swoosh first began this tradition in 2000 with the  Air Force 1, and plenty of themed releases spanning models like the  Air Trainer 1 and  Air Max 97 have followed ever since. Now, following a large themed collection in 2022, Nike are back with a duo of Air Max 1s.

Leaks of these two AM1s have been circling over the past month, but they’ve finally been locked in to release. Both boast eye-catching colourways, with one rocking ‘Orange Forest’ and another looking to ‘Blue Gale’. A gel-like Swoosh can be seen on both, alongside a ‘Puerto Rico’ script on the rear, custom tongue logo and dubraes.

While Nike haven’t announced the Air Max 1 ‘Puerto Rico’ via their channels yet, pairs have shown up on retailers like Tops and Bottoms for a potential June 6 release date.
