Update November 9, 2022: Shop Nice Kicks have confirmed they’ll be releasing the Nike Air Max 1 ‘Ironstone’ on November 24. As such, it’s expected Nike and other retailers will carry the colourway around the time as well.
Sneakerheads should expect a continued onslaught of strong colourways in 2022 as it is the model’s 35th anniversary. This upcoming mini-Swooshed ‘Ironstone’ edition should please both newcomers to the AM1 and wizened (aka picky) buyers with its slew of considered details and clean palette.
The Air Max 1 has significantly improved since its overhaul in 2017 for its 30th anniversary. This has seen revisions to its shape and materials, resulting in a higher quality product that’s also truer to the OG. While this colourway is anything but original, its tonal ‘Sail’ upper helps accentuate the tweaks Nike have made to the toe bumper with its sharper point, and piped tongue edging. The mini Swoosh detail is a throwback to some cult colourways from the late 1990s and early 2000s, which has appeared more frequently in recent years. Another notable detail is the alternate tongue label on this pair, which swaps out the usual Nike Air Max type for a grosgrain tab detailing what Nike Air actually is. For contrast, the ‘Ironstone’ colour appears on the Swoosh, mini Swoosh and heel branding.
Expect to see the Air Max 1 ‘Ironstone’ at Nike retailers later this year.
