Air Max Day 2023 is fast approaching, and Nike are celebrating by giving the people of Japan an opportunity to design their very own Air Max 1. First teased midway through 2022, we now have official images of the upcoming Air Max 1 ‘Design By Japan’, the colourway inspired by the Nike Sting – a running sneaker from the late 1970s.

Presented in a vintage aesthetic, the model is manufactured in white mesh, tumbled green leather overlays, and burnt orange heels. Exposed foam tongues emphasise its throwback credentials, whilst tinted midsoles further the archival aesthetic. Gum rubber outsoles are killer (as always), while special gold metal hangtags provide some extra swagger. Finally, retro tongue branding completes the nostalgic rendition.

There’s currently no concrete release date, but keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.

In the meantime, check out everything that went down at Paris Fashion Week, 2023.
