A legend among Nike's storied sneakers, the Air Huarache stormed back into the sneaker scene back in 2021 thanks in large part to the long-awaited Stussy retro.

Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield in 1991, it didn’t take long for the Air Huarache to transcend its pavement-pounding roots to become a mainstay of Nike’s lifestyle division, the signature neoprene sock-liner of course becoming the calling card for the silhouette.

As described by Hatfield himself, ‘I remember popping my feet into a slalom ski, which has a neoprene bootie. Just as I got yanked out of the water, I had a vision about how it would be great for a shoe. The next morning, I did this sketch.’

The latest Nike Air Huarache to arrive is a brand new ‘Hyper Grape’ colourway, the ‘White’, ‘Hyper Grape’ and ‘Black’ composition expected to land over the coming weeks.

Bearing remarkable resemblance to the ‘Purple Punch’ of 1991 (and recently retroed in 2018), the OG ‘Purple Punch’ was known for the classic Nike Huarache commercial with Michael Johnson.

Look for the Nike Air Huarache ‘Hyper Grape’ to land over the coming weeks.
