The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 Wrangles a 'Wheat' Colourway

Update February 8, 2022: After official images of this Nike Air Griffey Max 1 emerged in GS sizes, new photos of adult sized versions have now shown up. A release date is still unknown.
The undeniably retro has wrangled a ‘Wheat’ colourway, giving it quite the different look to its usual renditions. In recent times, we’ve seen the high-top dressed in and , but this one rocks a similar vibe to the that hit back in 2016.
Currently making the most of its 25th anniversary celebrations, the Air Griffey Max 1 debuted in 1996 and was designed as a homage to baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. Noticeably inspired by the cleats that Griffey Jr. wore on the diamond during his glittering baseball career, the silhouette quickly became a popular cross training option when that whole phenomenon was taking the world by storm back in the mid- to late-90s.
While the images above are of a GS-sized pair, it’s hoped the eventual release will include a full size range, with the scheme expected to be especially popular in the northern hemisphere as they approach Fall and the colder months of Winter.
Pairs of the ‘Wheat’ Air Griffey Max 1 are expected to land soon at Nike and selected Swoosh stockists.
