The Nike Air Force 1 Mid is Having Its Moment
Nike are pushing the Air Force 1 Mid this year, and at least one sneakerhead welcomes this move – especially if they keep putting out colourways like this fresh AF mint number. Mid-cut Uptowns have appeared in a higher tier of quality lately, and this edition continues that with its buttery materials and eye for detail.
Aniline materials can look really cheap when brands skimp, or they can look super elevated. This AF-1 is thankfully an example of the latter, as the finely sanded suede or nubuck covers the entirety of the upper in the tasty mint shade. The quality factor is accounted for via the leather lining instead of the usual mesh, and peep the crispiness of the white Swoosh. Finer details that reveal the upscaling come through via the densely woven laces, which take on a light layer of wax. Is wax, is good. And, as it’s been expressed on the pages of SF countless times, gum outsoles make everything better. Especially when it’s slapped underneath a crisp white rubber midsole – props to Nike for showing restraint and not shading in the Air branding in mint, keeping things clean.
Strap up these Air Force 1 Mids later this year as Nike celebrates the model’s 40th anniversary.
