Nike Clip a Carabiner Swoosh onto the Air Force 1
It’s a little-known fact that some of the Nike Air Force 1’s design was actually derived from the Air Approach hiking shoe. So, while it may look somewhat incongruous that this latest colourway features a carabiner-style Swoosh in place of its regular type, let it be known that there is a tenuous reason as for why it exists.
This AF-1 forms part of a growing pack of Swoosh models featuring carabiner hardware integrated into the design somehow. As part of an increasingly prevalent trend of adding gimmicks to the classic model, this edition sees not only lateral Swooshes with the climbing equipment, but its tongue also has a zippered pouch. What it’s meant to store is purely up to the imagination and wit of anyone who chooses to wear these shoes.
The colourway is a fairly straightforward mix of tonal black leather atop stark white midsoles. Adding some nice accenting is the smaller Swoosh, which is coloured in ‘Photo Blue’, plus Nike Air branding on the tongue and heel tabs in ‘Volt’. The aforementioned carabiner Swoosh hardware is also finished with an oil slick effect, creating a colourful look.
Keep an eye out for these Air Force 1s at Nike retailers in coming months.
