Bruce Kilgore’s Nike Air Force 1 continues to soar across the sneaker landscape in 2022, the legendary 1982 silhouette recently refuelled by high-profile collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Stussy and Billie Eilish.

Famously the first ever basketball to feature Nike Air technology, the Air Force 1 this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, a historic milestone extolled with Nike’s latest in-line colourway.

Layering the uppers with logos recalling its illustrious 40-year history, the AF-1 highlights the steady progression of branding since the silo’s inception, the most notable being the modern era’s embroidered mark overlaying the OG Nike Air motif. A similar theme extends to the tongues, where Nike’s new Swoosh branding displaces a traditional Nike Air logo. Jewel Swooshes are also superimposed onto standard logos at the lateral sides, giving the colourway a mismatched, sacai-like aesthetic. Manufactured in a classic white leather build, the Swoosh have opted for a yellowed sole unit to emphasise the silo’s vintage characteristics.

Finally, ‘Metallic Gold’ lace dubraes replace the silver renditions popular throughout the 2000s, with the topmost eyelets following suit.

No release details have yet surfaced, but make sure to keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for updates.
