What We Know About the Nike Air Footscape Woven’s 2023 Revival

Nike have really been diggin’ in the crates the past few years, pulling out a swathe of archive models and breathing new life into once-defunct silhouettes, allowing them to see a new audience in the modern-day sneakersphere. The Air Alpha Force Low has been on the cards since it was rumoured to take flight once again. The Air Kukini has experienced a megalithic resurgence, and so has the Terminator. Now, seemingly out of the blue, rumours are now spreading that the Air Footscape Woven is set to make a comeback, and two colourways have already been leaked.

The original Nike Air Footscape was released in 1996, with the Woven edition following in the mid-2000s. We’ve also seen the Footscape Magista, Footscape Flyknit and Footscape Utility, among others. The Woven silhouette is instantly recognisable thanks to its asymmetric lacing system and ‘Woven’ panel across the lateral and medial. It actually returned briefly between 2016 and 2017 in various colourways and with Nike’s NM (Natural Motion) sole.

The rumoured retro was initially reported via Sole Retriever, and now Complex have said that they’ve seen a document stating the Footscape Woven will release as part of Nike’s Fall 2023 collection in women’s sizing but that it will only be available via the brand’s ‘neighborhood’ retailers. Leaked imagery of two colourways has surfaced, both featuring pony hair uppers, with the standout being the cow-hide iteration with white accents that will allegedly retail for $160. The second is a simplistic black and grey, with a white midsole and an RRP of $150.

Will there be an all-out Footscape rival? It must be noted that sacai collaborated on the new Magmascape silhouette for the brand’s AW23 Paris Fashion Week show, and CDG released their own blacked-out iterations in 2019. Leaked 2023 Union x Air Jordan 1 imagery also shows that the retailer used Woven-esque details.

So far, the Beaverton-based brand are yet to officially confirm that the Nike Air Footscape Woven will return in 2023, but where there’s smoke, there’s fire! Stay locked to Sneaker Freaker for all updates.
