Nike Are Bringing Back Scottie Pippen's 1992 Dream Team Sneakers
2022 marks the 30th anniversary of USA Basketball's legendary 'Dream Team', a squad of NBA legends (and Christian Lattner) who captured the hearts and minds of the world as they romped to gold at the Barcelona Olympic Games. Scottie Pippen was one of those legends, so in tribute to the Games, the squad and Pippen himself, Nike are retroing the Air Flight Lite II – the shoe Pippen and his teammate Chris Mullen wore during the Games – in its 'Olympic' colourway.
The retro is a near-identical re-creation of Pippen's Dream Team shoe, with its white leather base, navy accents, pops of red and gold and large Flight tongue badge all intact. The only thing missing? His Olympic #8 on the heel.
It appears as if the Air Flight Lite II will be a key piece of Nike Sportswear's 2022 retro push, as this Olympic colourway joins previously-revealed styles like the 'Black/Team Orange/Imperial Blue' and the 'White/Black'. It may not have the prestige of Michael Jordan's famed Air Jordan 7 'Olympic' or Charles Barkley's rugged Air Force 180, but it's a piece of Nike Basketball history nonetheless – and seeing the Swoosh pull an under-the-radar classic out of the vault is never a bad thing.
A release date for the Nike Air Flight Lite II 'Olympic' has yet to be announced, but when it hits shelves it'll retail for $120.
