Update December 5, 2022: Ahead of the official release of Nicole McLaughlin’s upcoming Reebok collaboration, END. will be hosting the creative for an in-depth discussion as part of their END. Talks series at their flagship London store in SoHo. The event will be taking place on December 7 at 8 pm.

Update November 29, 2022: Many months after Nicole McLaughlin posted a teaser of her Reebok collaboration, official details have been revealed. They’re known as the Club C Geo Mid, and the hardy materials are inspired by the 1996 Etna. The Nicole McLaughlin x Reebok Club C Geo Mid will release on December 5 via StockX, with proceeds going towards non-profit Sky High Farms. A wider drop will follow on December 9 from selected retailers.

Burgeoning DIY upcycling artist Nicole McLaughlin has grown in profile in recent years, and this rise has seemingly earned her a personalised sneaker with Reebok. McLaughlin was actually working for the Vector brand before she ventured off to pursue her craft full time, and it looks like the door was left open for both parties to reunite.

Revealed via a single teaser image on her social media, McLaughlin’s Reebok shoe appears to be an outdoors-inspired model that doesn’t look like anything the brand has put out before. The ripstop nylon uppers meet black mudguards that have a reflective trim. There is also a leather overlay on the eyestays, which meets a woven tab. The technical upper is finished with mesh inserts – the tongue’s Starcrest logo implies it’s a lifestyle model – and woven ankle tape spelling out the collaborator’s full name. Underfoot is an all-black stitched sole, which looks like a cup sole paired up to rubber hiking tread.

The sample tag behind the shoes means this pair is either still a work in progress, or a custom made expressly for McLaughlin. In any case, it’s a fitting expression of her aesthetic and personal interest in climbing. Perhaps she will reveal more in due time.
