Kick Off January with GR Goodness from New Balance

A large part of New Balance’s success can be attributed to the brand’s continued focus on strong general releases that are actually accessible. Without artificial scarcity, overblown hype and fairly easy to cop product, it’s no surprise that more sneakerheads are either avoiding a narrow path or consolidating their collection with NB. And this will continue into 2022, as January is already loaded with at least 15 new releases that are beginning to trickle into stores.

One of the ruling models in the NB zeitgeist at the moment is the 2002R. Yes, it has been a collaborative favourite, but it’s also seen an overwhelming majority of its best colourways occupy the GR category. This month sees four tonal options including red, green, teal, and beige – the latter two almost looking like something Ronnie Fieg would put together. Joining those four is the ever-classic 574, which returns in OG-flavoured navy, but now has a leather toe box as a point of difference.

Beyond those classics are some modern offerings that have gained momentum in the past couple of years. This consists of the trio designed by Charlotte Lee – the 237, 327 and XC-72 – in a mixture of textiles and palettes ranging from traditional mesh to rustic canvas, plus the 57/40 model, which again features a variety of textures and colours on its layered uppers.

Keep an eye out on New Balance Australia’s web store for these new arrivals.
