New Zealand’s Loaded boutique just hosted the killer launch of New Balance’s updated 574S. A small army of sneakerheads and a few VIPs descended on the store’s Auckland branch to eyeball the new model, clink glasses and talk sneakers.
A drone hovering overhead documented revellers gathered outside who were bathed in the glow of a gigantic projection of NB’s logo. Inside, Kev Downie, proud owner of New Zealand’s largest New Balance collection, showcased the development of the 574 using his treasure trove to collate an exhibition titled ‘574 Evolution.’
Kiwi music legend DJ Sir Vere took his rightful place behind the decks to set the night’s upbeat tone, while the crew from Pac Heat – heavy hitters in NZ’s sneaker scene and famed for their swapmeets and community contributions – worked the room in style.
Those who got in quick were able to pre-order the debut 574S collection and collect their prize from Loaded the following day. If you missed the event, don’t fret. We’ve got a play-by-play of the evening here so you can peruse and live vicariously.
