Nike's latest 'Just Do It' campaign has drummed up all kinds of responses since its reveal earlier this month. Many have praised the Swoosh for their support of political freedom, while others, like Ben Zahn, were taken aback by the campaign's use of controversial athlete Colin Kaepernick.

Zahn, who serves as the mayor of Kenner, Louisiana, issued a memorandum banning the city's recreation department from purchasing any Nike products for the city's rec facilities in response to campaign. Zahn justified the ban as a protection of 'patriot values', but was quickly met with widespread criticism.

Louisiana's chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union called for Zahn to rescind his memo, to which Zahn later obliged.

'That memorandum divided our city and placed Kenner in a false and unflattering light on the national stage,' Zahn stated.

Still, despite the ban being lifted, Zahn seemed unapologetic about his actions, claiming that his patriotism 'will not waiver'. Sounds like Zahn needs to brush up on his patriotic values — after all, America's forefathers fought for political freedom!
