PUMA have proudly announced that top NBA prospect LaMelo Ball has joined them as a brand ambassador both on and off the court. The official news follows months of whispers suggesting LaMelo was closing in on a deal with the Big Cat, and is yet another vote of no confidence in LaVar Ball’s  Big Baller Brand.

Talking about the long-term partnership with PUMA, LaMelo said, ‘I am really excited to be joining the PUMA family. I believe the brand is the perfect partner for me because PUMA will allow me to just be myself. I want to be 100-percent authentic, whether that’s playing basketball or showing off my personal style and that’s what I want to do with PUMA.’

LaMelo is expected to feature prominently in the upcoming NBA Draft, which will be held next month on November 18.

According to PUMA’s Global Director of Brand and Marketing, Adam Petrick, ‘LaMelo’s physical gifts and dynamic play on the court, as well as his unique sense of personal style, make him a natural fit for PUMA. We are thrilled to add him to our roster of talented athletes and, at just 19 years old, we can’t wait to see his impact on the broader culture surrounding basketball.’

In-line with that wider perspective, the partnership will also support various programs that encourage youth to stay active through basketball skill camps, equipment and clothing donations, and court refurbishments.

The deal notches another win for PUMA, who’ve been making some power moves in the basketball market since their hardwood reemergence. LaMelo joins big names Kyle Kuzma, RJ Barrett, and Deandre Ayton on the Big Cats growing roster.
