Last Chance to Bid On the Usher x Air Jordan 9 in the Sotheby’s x English Sole ‘Scarce Air’ Auction

Time is running out for your chance to own these uber-rare unreleased samples of an Air Jordan 9 created expressly for singin’ and dancin’ superstar Usher. The esteemed performer has a proven track record with unobtainable Jordans but, thanks to the Sotheby’s x English Sole ‘Scarce Air’ auction, some of these unicorns might just be coppable.

According to Sotheby’s and English Sole, these AJ9s were created in 2013 for Usher to wear in a promotional video for the US version of reality singing competition show The Voice, which he was a coach on for a number of seasons. Like his all-gold AJ3s from the same period, this AJ9 was never intended to release publicly.

Usher has… ushered… (ba dum tss) in a slew of distinct features for these one-offs. For one, they’re all gold – that cannot be disputed (unlike the pink and white vans). The foil upper surface has enough sheen to make King Midas proud, and a very very subtle splatter pattern on the mudguard will keep the eagle-eyed nerds focused. Any and every external surface is rendered gold in some form: the midsoles are very metallic, and the accompanying outsoles are iced out with a rich yellow tone. The tongues feature embroidered stars, because that’s exactly what Usher is!
