Kevin Durant Reveals Why He Didn't Sign with Under Armour

Since re-signing with Nike in 2014, Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant has established himself as one of brand’s most lucrative basketball athletes. It could’ve been very different if Under Armour had their way. In a recent interview with ESPN, KD outlined how the much talked about bidding saga panned out.

‘That process was just too much mentally because I love Nike so much,’ says Durant.

‘I knew I had a supreme skill that needed to be compensated for, and I knew I played my way into having these negotiations. But I didn't want to start over at Under Armour or adidas. I knew where I wanted to be, and $300 million was more than enough. I'm now on my 11th Nike shoe.

KD’s decision looks to be the correct one, with his signature shoe currently third best-selling in the basketball performance market behind LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. He’s also got bragging rights over his GSW teammate and Under Armour golden boy Steph Curry, who comes in at fourth.
