Kawhi Leonard Will Walk From His $22 Million Jordan Contract

Kawhi Leonard

has passed his physical exam with the Toronto Raptors, making the blockbuster move away from the San Antonio Spurs official. Leonard will join Danny Green in Toronto, while DeMar DeRozan will head to San Antonio. But it’s not the only switch-up Leonard is making.

His current deal with the (set around $5.5 million USD per annum) is set to expire later this year, and according to ESPN’s Nick DePaula, will ‘let him walk’.

'Extension talks between Leonard and the Nike subsidiary stalled earlier this year after Leonard turned down a four-year, $22 million extension,' says DePaula.

Leonard will now be one of many NBA stars on the sneaker free-agency market, including 76er Joel Embiid and Boston wingman Gordon Hayward. Despite boasting more on-court accolades than the aforementioned, Leonard’s marketability remains somewhat in question, with the guard maintaining a low social profile and leaving one of the NBA’s most storied franchises under dubious circumstances.

As always, keep it dialled to Sneaker Freaker for further updates.
