Jordan Brand Officially Reveal Spring 2022 Air Jordan Retro Collection

Jordan Brand Air Jordan Spring 2022 Retro Collection

Jordan Brand have unveiled their Spring 2022 Air Jordan retro collection, a 15-shoe offering that's led by the return of the Air Jordan 12 'Playoffs' and centred around three key principles: sustainable materials, extended size runs and fresh, modernised takes on classic silhouettes – ranging from the Air Jordan 1 to the Air Jordan 13. 'Diehard fans can see that we care about preserving history, while new fans are invited to dig into their curiosity and explore the reasons for timing. Why now? Why this shoe? Then the answers start flowing. We never launch a retro in isolation,' said Donald Kelsey, the product director of Jordan Brand's Global Retro line.

Leading things off are a duo of Air Jordan 1s, namely the Air Jordan 1 'Dark Marina Blue' and the Air Jordan 1 'University Gold/Light Bordeaux'. The former mixes familiar black and blue shades, and will be available in a full family size run. The latter is a women's-sized style made of smooth matte leather and nubuck. Though it features a Lakers-esque colour scheme it's in fact inspired by the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 7 'Bordeaux'.

Two takes on the Air Jordan 3 and three iterations of the Air Jordan 4 join the party as well. The Air Jordan 3s are the 'Cardinal Red' and the 'Muslin' – the former of which is a family-sized pair that takes colour inspiration from the Air Jordan 7 'Cardinal', the latter a men's pair with a muslin canvas upper. The Air Jordan 4 'Sail' is a women's style with an unadorned canvas upper ripe for customisation and paint splatter-inspired details on its outsole, while the women's Air Jordan 4 'Amethyst Wave' features sublimated tie-dye patterns on its upper. The full family-size Air Jordan 4 'Infrared' remixes a traditional Jordan Brand colour scheme for a look that's both fresh and familiar.

Moving on to the Air Jordan 5, there's a full family-sized 'Racer Blue' colourway inspired by an unreleased sample from 1990 and an Air Jordan 5 Low 'Arctic Orange' with chill-yet-crispy pastel orange and hot red shades. The family-sized Air Jordan 6 'University Blue' salutes Michael Jordan's days at the University of North Carolina, and the women's Air Jordan 6 'Mint Foam' supplies an airy colour scheme with minty accents.

Next is the Air Jordan 7 'Sapphire', a men's and women's pair that pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 7 with a bold new construction. There's also an Air Jordan 9 'University Red' in men's and kids sizes with a no-frills colourway and a quilted textile upper. The Air Jordan 12 'Playoffs' is back with its OG detailing fully intact, and will drop in February to celebrate this year's NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland. Last but not least, the Air Jordan 13 'Del Sol' features a summertime mix of white and yellow, and will be available in a full family size run.

Expect Jordan Brand's Air Jordan Spring 2022 collection to begin rolling out in February, and stay tuned for each pair's official release date and pricing information as it's made available.
