Jordan Brand Gets a New Chief Design Officer in Jason Mayden

Jason Mayden

The Jumpman are shifting things as Jason Mayden has been hired as the new Chief Design Officer for Jordan Brand. Mayden takes over for Martin Lotti who is now Nike’s Chief Design Officer. The Chicago native started as an industrial design intern in 2001 and worked his way up to Jordan Brand’s Senior Global Design Director and designing the Air Jordan 2009.

Mayden announced the hiring on his Instagram stating ‘I’m filled with gratitude to announce my return to @jumpman23 as the Chief Design Officer.

It’s been an incredible 23-year journey since starting as the brand’s very first design intern. Reflecting on the path that’s brought me here is truly awe-inspiring.

Thinking back to my childhood dreams growing up on the Southside of Chicago, it’s surreal to see them materialize. We’ve come way too far, there’s no stopping us now.

For those navigating tough times, hold onto hope. A wise homie once said, “nice guys don’t finish last, they outlast.”’

Mayden left Jordan Brand in 2014 and started Super Heroic in 2017, a children’s footwear brand as well as being a founding member of Trillicon Valley, a media and design collection. More recently, Mayden was president of Fear of God Athletics from 2020 to 2022, working in-house with adidas and Jerry Lorenzo on the collaborative partnership.

We look forward to seeing what Mayden and Jordan Brand bring in the future, not just for basketball, but across all sports and categories.
