Join Choreographer Parris Goebel for Live Q&A and Bust a Move with ReQuest!
New Zealand artist and choreographer Parris Goebel is teaming up with Nike to celebrate dance and empower women across the globe.
In a partnership created to fuel positive change and forge new pathways for women in dance, Nike will be hosting both a live Q&A with Parris and a dance workshop with ReQuest Dance Crew, the online events running alongside the new Icon Clash apparel collection.
With a client list that includes Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, and ,Jennifer Lopez, Parris also founded the ReQuest Dance Crew back in 2007, an all-female hip hop group that’s craning necks across the globe.
According to Parris, ‘It’s through my work and the expression of dance that I am able to get to know and inspire myself, which in turn inspires others. Most importantly, it’s essential for me as a woman to help younger girls realise their potential and help them achieve their goals.’
Chronicling Parris’ journey from Auckland to LA, the live Q&A will focus on uniting communities and facilitating positive change for women in the industry, as well as illuminating Parris’ work with the likes of J.Lo and Rihanna.
Designed to complement the Q&A, the ReQuest Crew dance events are also bringing athletes together to help foster positive change. Co-hosted by Nike Training Club (NTC), signing up to the event will give you access to an exclusive dance workshop, while also taking you through a journey of all NTC’s workouts (NTC have been providing people access to expert nutritional advice and exercise tips while working – and working out! – from home).
Launching alongside the digital event, the Icon Clash collection also celebrates inclusivity and self-determination, the apparel and sneakers specifically curated by the dance community. The ReQuest Dance Crew have opted for the Nike Blazer Mid ‘77 to complete the collection, a timeless silhouette expressing vintage vibes and limitless styling versatility. Manufactured with a leather upper, the Blazer Mid ‘77 provides comfortable support that only gets better with age.
With apparel that includes tights, bras, crops, track-pants and sweatshirts, the catalogue belongs to Nike’s Move to Zero initiative, a pledge to shift towards zero carbon and zero waste.
