Joe Freshgoods Reveals the New Balance 550 'Conversations Amongst Us'

Joe Freshgoods has been a key member of the New Balance roster since breaking the internet with his 992 'No Emotions Are Emotions' back in 2020, and his latest project with the Boston-based brand is serving as the creative director of an ongoing 'Conversations Amongst Us' initiative. Freshgoods has been teasing the product from 'Conversations Amongst Us' – all of which was created by Black designers – in recent months, and now he's provided the first look at a fresh 550.

New Balance announced that a 550 would be among the line's products in a press release at the top of the month, but this is the first time we've had a chance to see it in 'person.' Much like the 2002R Freshgoods revealed at the end of February, this 550 features a pale yellow colour scheme and an interesting material composition, switching its standard leather upper out in favour of a canvas one. 'Conversations Amongst Us' is also stamped on the insole, keeping the special branding minimal and letting the materials do the talking.

Though an exact date of release has yet to be announced, you can expect this 550 to release in April alongside other special styles like the 574 and KAWHII II. Freshgoods also has a 9060 'Inside Voices' colab on the way, a follow up to his 990v3 'Outside Clothes' – the shoe that starred on the cover of Sneaker Freaker #45!
