Fear of God Athletics x adidas 2023-2024 Opening Season Is Here
Inspired by the adidas Predator football boot, the I BASKETBALL is sculpted with a low profile silhouette and a translucent rubber outsole. The upper consists of a premium knit with a neoprene collar and no-sew TPU film overlays, giving the shoe a futuristic, neo-noir veneer. Comfortable performance is provided by a Lightstrike midsole, while the ankle bungee with toggle ensures a snug fit for hooping. The Predator's influence is chiefly referenced with the 3-Stripes moulded cage, and there's also adidas branding on the toe. The Fear of God branding comes in the form of a black bar embossed on the heel. The I BASKETBALL is available in two colourways, 'Carbon/Carbon' and 'Carbon/Sesame', for $250 retail.
This Fear of God version of the classic adidas is fitted out with premium suede and durable ripstop fabric that rests on a wavy rubber sole unit. This iteration of the iconic runner is constructed for support and features a padded tongue, moulded capsule and an adjustable lace toggle. 3-Stripes branding emblazon the midfoot, with an embossed adidas logo on the sole and Fear of God black bar on the heel.
Another remix of a classic adidas silhouette, the Rivalry '86 Low has been given a modern update, with a full premium washed suede upper resting atop a contoured rubber outsole. Like the other two silhouettes, there is a considered touch with the branding. The 3-Stripes mark the quarter panel, a debossed adidas trefoil stamps the heel pad, an embossed adidas logo sits on the sole, and the black bar embossed Fear of God logo graces the heel. This sneaker comes in three colour ways: 'Sesame', 'Clay', and 'Talc.'
Rounding out the collection is a slide called the adidas ADILETTE, with a low profile shape and supportive footbed. The 3-Stripes branding features a stitch motif on the forefoot, and the Fear of God logo is embossed on the sole.
Update November 30, 2023: It's here! The Fear of God Athletics x adidas collection is now exclusively available at The Athletics Atmosphere in Los Angeles, which is the first leg of the collection's immersive activation event. There will be accompanying locations popping up in New York, Shanghai, and Beijing on December 3.
As anticipated, the first part of the collection includes a new range of performance sneakers, including the I BASKETBALL, a low-profile 3-Stripe adaptation of the European football Predator model. Other sneakers in the line include remixes of the Adilette slider, the L.A. Trainer, and the Rivalry 86 Low.
On the apparel side, there's 'Black' and 'Clay' colourways of technical performance gear. This range displays the high-fashion fusion expected from the colab, with a combination of suede fleece, nylon, and polar fleece that is accompanied by Italian calfskin suede and nylon accessories.
The Athletics Atmosphere event will conclude on December 3, with the line being launched via fearofgod.com and the Adidas CONFIRMED app. There will be a wider launch at select adidas DTC stores on December 6.

Update November 29, 2023: The Fear of God Athletics 2023-2024 opening campaign is here! Jerry Lorenzo and Three Stripes have kicked off the long-anticipated athletics line that marks a fresh chapter for adidas and Lorenzo's streetwear house. The collection completes the trilogy of FoG's brand vision, alongside the self-titled and ESSENTIALS range.
Lorenzo founded Fear of God in 2013 and left Nike for adidas in 2020, and he and his new home have been teasing the Fear of God Athletics project for years. Now, the opening season campaign has officially began with photography by Nadav Kander and Lorenzo as creative director. The initial imagery features glimpses of what to expect from the array of sportswear, without giving away too much, which has become the stock standard for this colab.
The first round of apparel will launch on on December 3. In the lead-up to the inaugural release, Fear of God will host The Athletics Atmosphere in Los Angeles. The immersive event will run daily, 11am to 6pm from November 30 until the launch date.

In true Lorenzo fashion, the Fear of God founder has posted a short teaser trailer on his Instagram, along with three ambiguous blurry shots on the Fear of God account sharing the same caption of the long-awaited announcement.
The news comes almost three years to the day when Lorenzo first teased with a Three Stripes tattoo on his neck that he was leaving for adidas. In the time since, anticipation has been boiling, with a barrage of nothing but teasers of the Fear of God x adidas collection.
Lorenzo is well known for teasing glimpses of the upcoming collection on his Instagram while being tight-lipped about further details, so this announcement is par for the course of what many expect to be a game-changing collaboration for adidas. Earlier this year, it was reported that the long-awaited colab would debut in December. With this announcement, we’ll be getting our first glimpses a few days earlier than initially expected.
