Raffle Open: Jean Paul Gaultier x sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle

After releasing what feels like dozen of mashed together collaborations, sacai have recruited fashion heavyweight Jean Paul Gaultier for a three-way on the Japanese brand’s bespoke Nike Vaporwaffle model. This crazy creation landed on some listicles in 2021 as one of the most unique models in recent memory and, after small drops here and there, is another limited raffle release this year.

ICYMI, this is a mid-top version of the Vaporwaffle fusion model that sacai had been pushing with Nike. This is the first – and likely only – time there is a third party getting involved, and the results have been memorable. First, there’s the higher ankle extension, plus the erratic colour combination. Then it’s tied off, perhaps literally, with the baseball glove-style leather stitching along the length of the shoes and the ankle collar.

One colourway is loosely based on the ‘Sesame’ Vaporwaffle, plus some additional yellow, green and orange panelling, while the other is a somewhat more conventional mix of mostly black and white. If the unique styling isn’t enough to identify this colab, the collaborators have their logos printed on the insoles.
