Former Oregon Ducks Football Captain and Nike Executive Pens ‘Innovation University’ Book
Former football team captain and executive Garren Strong has published a new book titled Innovation University, which traces the team’s successful history and its links to cutting-edge R&D. A lot of this advancement is no doubt due to their close ties to Nike.
The 460-page hardcover book features quotes and accounts from significant figures, including Phil Knight, Tinker Hatfield, James Whitner, Gentry Humphrey, and PJ Tucker – names that should be familiar to anyone in the sneakersphere. Oregon University sports teams are also known for their exclusive Nike and PEs, which are coveted worldwide.
Strong played for the Ducks from 2003 to 2007 and then went on to become an executive at Nike and Jordan Brand.
‘To the casual observer, Oregon Football is a story about bright uniforms and big offence,’ Strong said. ‘But this story is not about one coach, offensive scheme, or audacious uniform. It’s a perfect storm of unique influences that launched a previously unremarkable program into the national spotlight.’
Innovation University will arrive in three versions. The ‘Elite’ tier will have two cover choices, is an individually numbered edition of 100 and is priced at $500. It also includes an NFT. The standard version is $220. Pre-orders are open now.
