Iconic Skate Store Pawnshop Skate Co. Suffers Fire Tragedy
Located 22 miles east of downtown LA, the iconic Pawnshop Skate Co. skate shop has suffered a tragic fire to the interior of their building, destroying nearly all of their stock.
Fortunately, none of the crew were harmed by the blaze, and the building’s structure remains intact. Despite the damage, co-founder Anthony Piscopo (father of Nike SB team rider Donovon Piscopo) remains upbeat, and promises locals the business will rebuild.
In the meantime, Pawnshop Skate Co. hopes to bring back their weekly Flat Bar Fridays event, and is working closely with local authorities to set up a curbside ‘skate fort’ out the front of the store. They will also be fulfilling their duties online.
Built on a rich skateboarding history, Pawnshop Skate Co. has served the Covina skate community with passion since opening its doors in 2010. With no skate parks present in the city, the skate store works to hold skate events, where locals can come together to thrash.
In support of the store, a GoFundMe page has been created to help fund the rebuild efforts. In an amazing show of support, the $5000 goal has already been surpassed! If you’d like to donate, head here.
