Hitting us like a tsunami, the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Monarch’ touched down last week and it looked like almost every sneakerhead wanted to ride the wave. Following the October 15 release, TL's were flooded with countless on-foot shots flexing the unique collaborative crep.

Patta and Nike have a long and storied past having linked on a range of Air Max silhouettes over the years. From the AM1 to the AM90 they’re almost always bangers with some even reaching grail-status. Does the ‘Monarch’ deserve to sit up there with the rest of the Amsterdam-based label's projects? We think so!

The sneakers were housed in a specialised box with all-over graphics. Alongside the shoes was an ornamental bracelet with Patta logo, Swoosh and Suriname flag. The ‘Monarch’ came dressed in a grey mesh base, white leather overlays and one-of-a-kind mudguard with wave-like look. Patta made themselves known via tongue and insole branding.

After seeing our closer look post on the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 ‘Monarch’, we’re sure you rushed to get raffling with help from our Where to Buy guide. Did you score a pair? Those who did were quick to throw them on-foot, flicking up their fits and posting them up to IG. With the TL going crazy, we thought the ‘Monarch’ would be the perfect fit for this week’s edition of How People Are Styling.
