The Helping Hoops Charity Shootout is back for its 11th edition! After making a triumphant return to Melbourne last year for its 10th-anniversary event, the basketball challenge is only going to be bigger and better than ever.

The Charity Shootout is the pinnacle event of the Helping Hoops organisation, setting a challenge to the city’s best ballers to score as many free throws as possible in 15 minutes. A new record was set in 2022 after longtime HH supporter Emmanuel Malou hit 394 buckets, eclipsing the 388 set in 2019 by AFL player Adam Treloar. Besides the opportunity to achieve local sporting glory, the event also aims to raise $100,000 to support HH’s free basketball programs across all of Melbourne.

Sponsors including the Ben Simmons Family Foundation, 2021 NBL champions Melbourne United, Nike and Basketball Victoria have generously offered prizes for top shootout scorers and towards raffle entrants.

Helping Hoops are also encouraging everybody to keep working on their shooting by posting up their best shots with #ShootAnywhere – whether it be sinking three-pointers into a hoop or a paper ball into a bin.

The Helping Hoops Charity Shootout will be held at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) on June 10 and 11.
