In 2004 Nike was set to help Sanrio celebrate its grand 30th anniversary, putting plans in place for Steven Smith to design a handful of Air Prestos featuring the iconic character Hello Kitty! As the story goes, the pairs never ended up seeing a proper lease. Although they were intended to be limited from the get-go (500 pairs of each style were to be made), they ended up being even more rare, rendered to Friends and Family status.

Last year news began circulating that the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto would officially be making a comeback, however the subject has remained dormant since around August last year. But now the topic looks to be potentially reignited as reports have alleged that the sneaker will be put into production. While this is yet to be confirmed, the surfacing of an official collaborative apparel collection from both brands could mean that these Prestos really are on the horizon.
