Gucci Takes ‘World’s Hottest Brand’ Title from Balenciaga, Nike Make Small Comeback

Gucci x adidas

The Lyst Index Q2 2022 report has been published and as always there are some interesting takeaways since their retrospective of the previous quarter. The biggest news is Balenciaga no longer ruling the fashion roost, losing their top spot to Gucci who were number two in Q1. Nike posted an improvement to their ranking, coming in at 12th after dropping to 19th last quarter. Other luxury fashion brands also increased their heat and climbed the ladder.

This report is created from data gathered by retailer Lyst, who have been collecting fashion and consumer insights for the past few years. Statistics are pulled from consumer behaviour patterns across over 200 million website visitors, plus social media usage including engagement and activity.

Gucci’s strong quarter is attributed to key collaborations with Harry Styles and adidas, but Balenciaga weren’t far behind on this front with the Yeezy GAP collection. Colabs also helped Nike improve their position, with Billie Eilish and Jacquemus cooperations noted as highlights.

More on the sneaker front, the Gucci x adidas collection was the second most desired item for female shoppers, while the Wales Bonner x adidas Samba took out top spot for men. Mules didn’t show any sign of slowing down either with the Birkenstock Boston right behind the Sambas for men.
