Here’s Why the Gucci x adidas MTO Trunk Costs $120k
The Gucci x adidas collaboration is the most hyped luxury-meets-sneakers link-up of the moment, with both brands coming together earlier this month to release the second instalment of their ongoing partnership. For this latest round, there are more monogrammed Gazelles where that came from, and they’ve also whipped up a few wild takes on the adidas ZX8000. And while the collaboration has never been limited to just kicks, now they’ve taken things up a notch with their highly limited Gucci x adidas MTO Trunk.
The MTO Trunk is the ultimate homage to the origins of Gucci and adidas: luggage and sneakers. Designed to house a dozen sneakers (12 pairs of Gazelles come included with the trunk), lucky owners can opt to make use of its plexiglass cases or the Gucci-das-embellished hooks. In addition to storage, the trunk is also replete with luxurious details, including an extractable footrest or stool, a mirror – so you can check out all the angles – gold hardware and leather drawers. The exterior has been brandished with a crystal GG monogram and Three Stripes branding.
It’s obvious that the MTO Trunk has been created for hardcore sneaker fans looking to ball out on their next collector’s piece. So, it’s really no surprise that the trunk is going to set prospective buyers back a cold, hard $120K. Breaking down the cost – accounting for the 12 pairs of Gucci x adidas Gazelles – you’re looking at the trunk itself costing approximately $109.8K. Each trunk is made to order and will take roughly eight months to be received.
