Frank Ocean Wore Vans Slip-Ons To A Whitehouse State Dinner
Frank Ocean’s first interview since Blonde dropped, in fact his first interview in almost three years, is about wearing to the Whitehouse. The singer was in the Whitehouse to attend Obama’s state dinner. It’s a formal, suit-and-tie event and polished brogues were seen on everyone’s feet but Ocean’s, who chose to pair his suit and tie with checkered Vans s. It took reporters all of five seconds to notice the flagrant faux pas, and they coaxed him over for interrogation.
‘I have to ask you about the shoes’ one says before questioning ‘what was the thinking behind the Vans?’ To which Frank, almost mockingly, responds ‘You can’t think, you just have to do things’.
Although Frank has worn the look before with Old Skools, it’s stepping things up a notch to wear an icon of youth and free-spirited rebellion to the POTUS’ house. See the interview below via ABC News.
