Forrest Gump's Nike Cortez Sell for $57,500

While the Nike Cortez may be returning in its OG colourway this year, film buffs and sneakerheads alike have recently had their chance to cop a pair that actually featured in the 1994 movie Forrest Gump. Going down as one of the biggest pop culture moments in sneaker history, it’s no surprise that the featured pair just sold for a hefty price – they reached $57,500 at Heritage Auctions.

According to the listing, the pair in question were among the pairs worn by Tom Hanks during the movie’s filming, and feature ‘studio distressed’ detailing. In all honesty, ‘distressed’ is a bit of an understatement, as the pairs are completely discoloured with heavy scuffing and holes at the toes, broken stitched Swooshes and frayed laces.
