First Look: NBA x Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Lakers’ Joins 75th Anniversary Celebrations
Joining the Nike Dunk Low colourways celebrating the NBA’s 75th anniversary is this recently leaked Air Force 1 Low, which borrows its look from a classic jersey from the Minneapolis Lakers era. For those unaware, the NBA’s LA Lakers actually began in 1947 with the purchase of the disbanded Detroit Gems of the National Basketball League (NBL). This new team would relocate to Minneapolis, Minnesota, calling themselves the Minneapolis Lakers, laying the foundations for the NBA franchise we know and love – and in some cases, hate – today.
This sneaker wears a scheme inspired by the team’s throwback jersey, dressed in a white leather upper with purple side panels detailed with blue overlays and accents. Just like the other ‘75th Anniversary’ pairs we’ve seen, there are a few special callouts to the celebration, notably on the tongue tags and via the diamond-etched lace dubraes which, of course, nod to the ‘diamond’ anniversary.
No official release date for the NBA x Nike Air Force 1 Low ‘Lakers’ has been revealed. However, expect a drop before the end of 2021. More details to come!
