Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo shook up the sneakersphere in December 2020 when it was announced he was leaving his partnership with Nike to begin a new endeavour with adidas – one that would see him lead global creative and business strategy for adidas Basketball, while also launching a new Fear of God Athletics sub-label. 2021 was quiet for Lorenzo, who was mostly working behind the scenes on getting the line ready to launch – but in the early days of 2022, the first Fear of God x adidas pieces are beginning to be teased in earnest via Shanghai's annual INNESECT festival.

Though any Lorenzo-designed footwear has yet to be revealed, the booth does proudly display Fear of God Athletics x adidas crewneck sweaters, mock necks and pullover hoodies, the last of which Lorenzo debuted at a Los Angeles Lakers game last December. Lorenzo also notes in an Instagram post about the exhibition that the exact trefoil logo he's using for the colabs was featured on adidas performance products from 1950 to 1971 'arguably [the brand's] most dominant and defining era'. The rest of its space offers immersive sports footage and speakers piping in broadcast sound bites relating to adidas athletes past and present like Billie Jean King and Damian Lillard.

Lorenzo has also confirmed that the full Fear of God Athletics x adidas collection is slated to arrive later in 2022. This hopefully means we'll be seeing some new sneakers soon as well – in his time with Nike, Lorenzo was responsible for popular models like the Air Fear of God 1, Air Fear of God Shootaround, Fear of God Raid and Fear of God Moc, which blended performance technology with high-street fashion. See more posts from the exhibition below, and keep it locked here for further drop info.
